Although it is possible to develop and optimize an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) in-house, pre-formatted ELISA kits can provide substantial savings in terms of both time and money. This makes them a preferred choice for many different research and in vitro diagnostics (IVD) applications, especially those reliant on consistent, long-term supply. Human ELISA kits are routinely used for detecting and quantifying target analytes in sample material like plasma, serum, or urine, and in tissue culture supernatants such as those generated during drug testing in human cell lines or the production of recombinant human proteins.
Human ELISA kits from ICL
We manufacture a broad range of human ELISA kits right here in the USA using our own raw materials. This ensures we retain complete control over our products for guaranteed quality and consistency and allows us to quickly and easily scale up production to align with the needs of our customers. Our rigorous process control and testing, backed by rapid customer service and support, has led to our ELISA kits being widely literature-cited across multiple fields of research, assuring you of results you can trust.
Our human ELISA kits employ a sandwich assay format for enhanced specificity and sensitivity. They include a microplate coated with analyte-specific antibodies that are used for target capture and typically employ a second, analyte-specific antibody conjugated to horseradish peroxidase (HRP) for detection. Incubation with the chromogenic substrate, 3,3’,5,5’-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB), allows the concentration of bound analyte to be determined against the standard, which is also included in the kit.
To safeguard the performance of our human ELISA kits, we invest significant effort into identifying the best matched antibody pairs. Not only must the two analyte-specific antibodies be confirmed to recognize different epitopes to prevent competition for analyte binding, they must also be checked for cross-reactivity with each other to avoid producing unwanted background signal. Additionally, we thoroughly optimize every step of our assay protocols, which we detail in the product insert accompanying each kit.
