Toxin A is one of the main virulence factors of Clostridium difficile, along with toxin B. These toxins disrupt the intestinal epithelium, causing cell death and inflammation in the large intestine. This can lead to pseudomembranous colitis, a condition where a lining of dead tissue, fibrin, and white blood cells forms over the inflamed bowel.

This clone (2H10) function best as the detection/conjugated antibody in ELISA assay when clone 2E4 is used as the capture/coating antibody.
