When Immunology Consultants Laboratory, Inc. was first established, over 40 years ago, our primary focus was on custom antibody development and characterization. Since then, we have become a trusted supplier of antibodies, ELISA kits, and protein reference standards for the global life sciences community, with customers including many of the world’s leading research institutions,  pharmaceutical companies, and IVD manufacturers.

Critically, many of the antigens we use for antibody development are native. This means that, compared to recombinant protein antigens, they more closely resemble the equivalent biomolecule in clinical samples. For this reason, countless ICL antibodies have become core components of essential in vitro diagnostic (IVD) tests, including our highly popular goat anti-chicken IgY antibody (GGHL-30A), which we produce in multi-gram amounts year on year.

Rigorous testing and quality control

We use our own gold standard reference material (which we lyophilize in small quantities) to validate our products before releasing them for sale. For protein antigens, our testing and quality control processes include polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (PAGE) for confirming purity and indirect ELISA for verifying identity. Our antibodies additionally undergo tests such as sandwich ELISA, Western blot, and fluorescence imaging.

Where our protein antigens and antibodies are integrated into our ready-to-use sandwich ELISA kits, we employ multiple internal controls for validating assay performance; every batch must fall within strict thresholds to pass QC. And, where we label our antibodies with enzymes or fluorescent dyes to enable target detection, we carry out yet further testing to ensure the conjugation procedure has been successful.
