Cathepsin B (Host Cell Protein) ELISA Kit – CHO (Chinese Hamster Ovary)
The Cathepsin B (Host Cell Protein) ELISA Kit – CHO (Chinese Hamster Ovary) is a highly sensitive two-site immunoassay designed to detect Cathepsin B, a lysosomal cysteine protease widely recognized for its crucial role in intracellular protein degradation and turnover. CTSB is a host cell protein (HCP) released during CHO cell culture and may compromise the safety and stability of biopharmaceuticals if not properly removed.
Unlike other cathepsins, CTSB is unique for its dual activity as both an endopeptidase and a carboxypeptidase, enabling it to break down proteins from within and from the carboxy-terminus.
- Target: Cathepsin B (CTSB)
- Species Reactivity: Hamster (CHO)
- Detection Range: 20 ng/mL – 0.3125 ng/mL
- Sensitivity:
- Assay Time: ~170 minutes
- Sample Type: Tissue culture fluids
- Storage: 2–8°C
- Shelf Life: 1 year
- Application: ELISA
Residual Cathepsin B is considered a significant Host Cell Protein (HCP) impurity due to its proteolytic activity. The presence of even trace amounts of active Cathepsin B can potentially fragment or degrade the therapeutic protein product, negatively impacting its quality, efficacy, and patient safety.
